Black Beauty is a novel about the life and adventures of a horse. Written by Anna Sewell (1820-1878) and first published by Jarrold and Sons in December 1877, it has been reprinted many times, usually without the original subtitle "His Grooms and Companions. The Autobiography of a Horse". Black Beauty remains popular to this day, and has arguably done made a difference in kind treatment of horses and other animals.

In addition to the book, there have been several movie and television treatments of the story, some more faithful to the original than others.
