Art piracy (or simply art theft) is the unauthorized duplication and/or distribution of artwork. A number of furry artists post to newgroups or public forums that they do not want their artwork to be redistributed and/or stamp "Do Not Redistribute" into scans of their artwork, but these requests are often unheeded by art sharing sites (see Image boards). However, some of these sites have taken to the practise of allowing artists to "opt-out" by being put on a DNP list.

Klaus Dobermann's fan art of commercially copyrighted characters, for example, is frequently posted to such sites even though he has well-expressed requests (reference his article) that such art no longer be redistributed.
